Neighbourhoods
Despite destruction during the Second World War, Orléans offers a series of neighbourhoods with an astonishing architectural unity, from Old Orléans to the thoroughfares opened between the 18th and 20th centuries.
North of the Loire
Bourgogne - République - Carmes - Bannier
Local Town Hall Town Centre
The heart of Orléans reoccupied and rehabilitated: Cleaning of façades, new paving, the extension of the pedestrian sector and brighter lighting has transformed the centre giving it a lively and attractive appearance (restaurants, terraces, boutiques, artists' workshops).
North of the Loire
Châteaudun - Fbg Bannier - Madeleine
Local Town Hall West-Centre
The north of this neighbourhood has an administrative vocation with the Cité de Coligny. On the west of the Loire, the Pont de l'Europe (a year 2000 construction), is a unique design in France in harmony with the town's profile and which respects the landscape of the Loire.
North of the Loire
Blossières - Murlins - Acacias – Railway station - Pasteur - Saint Vincent
Local Town Hall North
A neighbourhood brought back to life by a renovated railway station which ensures intermodal transport for trains, urban buses and the tram. Improved town planning with new offices, housing and facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.
North of the Loire
Barrière St Marc - La Fontaine de l'Etuvée - Argonne - Nécotin - Belneuf - St Marc - Fbg Bourgogne - Argonne sud
Local Town Hall North-East
North of the ancient Roman site of La Fontaine de l'Etuvée, the orchards are coming back to life. Renovation work is continuing with the repair of the road network, a boulodrome (Belneuf), a ‘bicycle bridge' for crossing the Loire (Pont Thinat), the refurbishment of residences around Saint-Marc, with carefully maintained pavilions, flower-covered gardens and discreet alleyways.
South of the Loire
Local Town Hall Saint-Marceau
Formerly devoted to horticulture, traditionally, this neighbourhood still has a residential character. Gardeners and market-gardeners celebrate Fiacre, their patron saint, ever year at Saint-Marceau church.
South of the Loire
Local Town Hall La Source
In 1962, the University came into being. Since then, this new town has been a leading centre for higher education and research. Through the presence of the source of the Loiret, a magnificent estate with large wooded and flower-covered beds (which became the Floral Park in 1964) offers this neighbourhood a natural charm.
